Steps To Become a Beloved Building
Beloved Buildings are drawings by artist Mike Zippel that depict a specific building and scene that inspire memories and feelings.
All the Beloved Buildings drawings are done digitally and free hand. He takes an image and uses his interpretation to bring his special charm. All of our products are created in Western Massachusetts.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the process we take in creating a custom Beloved Building drawing. The images used in this example are of Berkshire Mountain Distillers in Sheffield, Massachusetts.
Step 1: Email Us a Picture of Your Beloved Building
We offer custom building drawings for your place of residence, business, favorite bar, or restaurant—the possibilities are endless.
Step 2: We Draw It Up
Mike will take your photo and put his unique spin on the drawing using his iPad. First, he creates a black-and-white outline of the building, then finishes by adding color. These drawings are not meant to be precise and have a charming, childlike quality to them.
Step 3: Customize Your Perfect Product
Each custom drawing comes with a digital file—meaning you can use it on anything from mugs and magnets to greeting cards and more. The possibilities are endless!

Custom Drawings
What do I need to get a custom drawing completed?
This depends on where you are located. If you are local to us, we love to come over and take some photos, but if you are not local, don’t worry, we can work from your photos, which can be emailed to us.
How much does a custom image cost, and what does the price include?
The starting price for a custom drawing is $500. This includes up to two edits along the way, as well as a canvas or a framable print! Once we know your building and the scope of the project, we can give a more exact pricing structure for the project.
How long does it take to create a drawing?
A custom drawing typically takes two weeks from the time we have the pictures to create the drawing. The speed may vary depending on your specific needs.
What can I do with the drawing once I receive it?
Whatever you like. Print it, frame it, use it online. The only thing we ask is that your use is only for personal purposes – we have the option for businesses too, but if you’re having a simple commission done, it only includes personal use. We’re happy to talk about the structure for business use, too.
We always retain the rights to the image. We are happy to offer exclusive licensing of an image for a certain period of time, but we always retain the right to use the images for both promotion and our retail operations.

What if the product I’m looking for isn’t in your catalog — can I still get it?
Yes, 1000 times yes! Some of our current products came from the fact that our customers wanted something we did not offer. Not only are we happy to create something special for you, but we would likely keep it in our regular line too. And if you see a product without the image you want, we can always do one-offs for you.
Do you offer shipping?
Yes, we are happy to ship. You can order on our website or reach out via email, and we will make sure to get you the order you want.
Can I purchase larger quantities of a particular image or product?
Yes, there are no limits to the number of products you can order. Of course, the larger the order, the longer it may take to fulfil, but no worries, we have you covered.
Our Wholesale Offers
How do I become a wholesale customer?
Just send us a message, and we will set you up. You will need to have a resale certificate on file with us. We will then happily help curate the merchandise that will do best in your location. We always recommend our magnets, which are top sellers, but the sky is truly the limit.
What is the opening order requirement to become a retail partner?
The easy answer is none. If you want to try out any product in any quantity, we are happy to make it work. Seriously, even if you just want one or two of a product, no worries. We are confident they will sell, and you’ll want to order more soon.
What is the turnaround time after placing a wholesale order?
This really depends on the product and the quantity. We have been known to get orders done in a matter of days, but once we get your order, we will be able to set expectations on the timing for you to receive it.
Do you have an MSRP for your items?
Yes, we have MSRP on all our products! We ask that our wholesale partners stick to these whenever possible.

Can you make custom items for events?
Yes, this is something we love doing. If it’s a wedding or a birthday, or even just a gift for someone. We can create a custom product with your Beloved Building for your event. We offer discounts on larger orders or for nonprofits, so let us know what you’d like, and we will make sure to give you the best possible price.
Are there any costs associated with the design of a custom product?
We do all the layout and design work for our products free of charge. If there is something extra special or extra complicated, there may be a small fee attached, but we really just want to get the product into your hands for your special event.
What is the delivery time for an event order?
This really depends on the size of the order and the product ordered. We will make sure to give you a very specific timeline before we get started to make sure you have what you need with plenty of time for your event.
